Tajia processions, rallies banned on the occasion of Holy Ashura

Marking the celebration of the Holy Ashura on August 30 (10 Muharram), all kinds of Tajia processions and rallies have been prohibited in Dhaka Metropolitan areas.

A press notification signed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Md Shafiqul Isam carried a directive in this regard on Wednesday.

With a view to ensuring safety of Dhaka residents amid pandemic, all kinds of Tajia processions, rallies have been blocked as per sections 28 and 29 of the DMP ordinance (Ordinance No-000/76).

This directive will remain in force from staring to end of the ceremony marking Holy Ashura, DMP mentioned.

Devoted city dwellers, however, can observe religious programmes at Imambaras following health guidelines and they will certainly refrain from possessing any sharp weapons.
