A poor man now sees the light of happiness after getting a financial support from Bashundhara Group for operating his Ghani and bearing the educational expenses of his children.
Saiful Islam of Telipara village in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat runs a Ghani (a manual oil extractor machine) to earn the livelihood of his family. He could not buy any cattle for his Ghani due to lack of money.
Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan’s wife Afroza Begum gave Tk 1 lakh to Saiful on Wednesday for the construction of an infrastructure for the Ghani.
Besides, Bashundhara LP Gas, a concern of Bashundhara Group, has provided a cow to Saiful Islam.
The support came shortly after a recent video of Saiful’s Ghani went viral on social media, attracting attention of the magnanimous persons.
The video shows that a man (Saiful) is moving the arm of Ghani (manual oil extractor machine), using shoulder instead of cows.
Lalmonirhat Police Super Abida Sultana handed over a cow to Saiful Islam at his home on Thursday.
After getting the financial support and the cows, Saiful has expressed his gratitude to Bashundhara Group and police officials as he now expects a good livelihood.
Saiful has no money to buy a cow for running the mustard oil extractor machine set up by his father.
To earn livelihood of his family and bear the educational expenses of his children, Saiful has recently started the Ghani himself which seems inhuman in the civilised world. His wife Morsheda Begum helps him in the work.
Recently, Saiful’s hard labour has attracted attention of Bashudnhara Group and local administration through social media.

Among others, Additional Police Super Atiqul Islam, Assistant Police Super Tapas Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj Police Station Sazzad Hossain and Kakina Union Parishad Chairman Shahidul Haque were present on the occasion.
