A 22-day ban imposed on Hilsa fishing across the country in order to ensure smooth breeding during the peak season will end at 12:00pm on Wednesday.
The government imposed the ban that began on October 14 and will end on November 4.
With a view to sustainable breeding of Hilsa, the government has been taking this initiative for the last few years.
During this ban, fishing, selling, marketing, storage and transportation of Hilsa are strictly prohibited. If anyone violates the rule, he/she will be fined or imprisoned as per the provisions.
Various initiatives were taken this time to make the ban effective. Besides, fishermen were given assistances.
