Police today arrested three Jubo League activists in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur in a case filed against them for assaulting a medical officer, nurse and an office assistant during the ongoing measles-rubella vaccination programme.
The arrestees are: Alamin Mia (45), Anwar Hossain (47) and Rubel Mia (38), all of residents of the upazila and activists of the upazila unit of Jubo League.
The incident happened at Nagarkanda Upazila Health Complex around 12pm today when a woman brought her daughter for vaccination and the on-duty nurse told her to stand in queue since it was crowded there.
Angered by this, the woman called her brother Alamin over phone, who came there with his two associates – Anwar and Rubel – and 10-12 other activists of Jubo League and Chhatra League and assaulted the nurse, Rekha Khanam.

On information, police went to the spot and arrested the trio while the others managed to flee, he added.
