The fourth phase elections to municipalities will be held on February 14, the Election Commission announced this evening.
A total of 56 municipalities will go for voting in this phase, EC Senior Secretary Md Alamgir said while announcing the polls schedule at a press briefing after a commission meeting at the EC office.
According to the schedule, the last date for submitting nomination papers is January 16. The returning officers will scrutinise nomination papers on January 19, and the last date for withdrawal of candidacy is January 26.
Alamgir said that of the 56 municipalities, elections to 31 municipalities will be conducted through EVM and rest with traditional ballot papers.
Twenty-four municipalities went to polls on December 28 in first phase. All the elections in the first phase were held using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
A total of 62 municipalities will go to vote in the second phase on January 15. Of the 62 municipalities, election of 30 municipalities will be conducted through EVM and rest with traditional ballot papers.
Other than that, 64 municipalities will go for voting in third phase on January 30.
