Ten Supreme Court lawyers have filed complaints with Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against five Election Commission (EC) officials, including Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), bringing allegation of financial misappropriation through forged bills.
The lawyers, including advocate Shishir Muhammad Monir, submitted the complaint to ACC Chairman on Thursday morning.
Advocate Shishir Monir confirmed this matter to journalists.
Those who were made accused are CEC, election commissioners, incumbent secretary, and former secretary and EC officers at different level.
The complaint is brought against the EC officials following a media report on January 3.
It was stated in the report that the EC is in difficulty with Tk 7 crore 47 lakh and 57 thousand as allowance in the name of training for the elections of 11th Jatiya Sangsad and 5th upazila parishad elections. Such a situation arose as the amount was spent without the approval of finance ministry and policy of the EC.
In the meantime, objection was given by the Local and Revenue Audit Directorate concerned. As a result, the EC officials are in trouble now. To resolve the issue, different activities have already been started.
