Storm kills 12 people in different parts of the country

A pre-monsoon cyclonic storm took lives of 12 persons including women and children in different parts of the country Sunday evening.

Eight people have been killed in Gaibandha, two in Faridpur and one in Kushtia and Kurigram each due to the storm, sources said.

The deceased in Gaibandha are Abdul Goffar, Jahanara Begum, Moyna Begum, Sheuli Akter, Josna, Monir, Arjina and Sayra.
Halima and her daughter Afsana were killed being trapped under a fallen tree at Bajitpur village of Modhukhali Upazila of Faridpur.

Tropical storm, the first of the season, also hit the capital around 6:30pm and lasted for a few minutes, according to the Met Office.

It recorded a wind speed of 68km per hour, said Meteorologist AKM Nazmul Haque.
